Nice work! I've just tested this with a small molecule and
the results are very pleasing.
I once did a similar (but considerably more crude) thing using
a combination of RasMol scripts and whirlgif to join the GIF
files to make the composite GIF89 file. The only trick was
to compile a slightly modified version of RasMol that allowed
the saving of an image within a script (normally this is not
permitted). I certainly didn't have such a friendly HTML form
as the interface. The main problem is when the GIF files
become very large as the frames then have to be (re)read from
disk so the animation is jerky (I was using this to animate
molecular dynamics).
Anyone know of an image to movie (MOV, MPG etc.) conversion
utility?
