I think you are looking for an Xserver, and not an Xclient (Xclients
display their output on an Xserver).
You don't state what platform you need an Xserver for; however
MicroImages provide free Xservers for MacOS (m68k and PPC), as well
as Win32 (Intel). These are available from:
