*RUN*, do not walk, to GraphPad PRISM. Their web site is
http://www.graphpad.com/ .
Prism 2.0 generates residual plots automatically (if specified).
Curve-fitting is robust and reliable. Also, all data, graphs, etc.,
for an entire project are stored in a single file and are linked
together. All operations are automatically updated whenever either
the data or the analysis parameters are changed. An essential tool.
No $$$ connection, but I use it in my lab and our teaching lab --
students are very impressed, and you don't have dozens of
disconnected files lying around.
To be fair, I should say that most of the behemoth programs (Origin,
Scientist, etc.) can do residuals; I don't know how effortlessly.
