Trisomy 18 high! hCG level

Recently we karyotyped a trisomy 18 fetus after a triple screen result
of high risk for trisomy 21 (1:2 !). The uE3 (0.36 MoM) and the AFP
(0.56 MoM) levels were in accordance with typical trisomy 18 screen
results but the hCG level at 7.05 MoM was absolutely untypical for this
aneuploidy. On the contrary, very low hCG levels are expected in trisomy
18 pregnancies. Has anyone an explanation for such an unusual hCG
concentration, or has anybody observed similar cases in his own
laboratory ?
Thank you for replies.
