CCP4 COMPUTATIONAL SCIENTIST
Based at Daresbury Laboratory, Warrington, Cheshire
CCP4, is a BBSRC supported activity to develop, distribute and support a
software suite which is used worldwide in the field of protein
crystallography. Written mainly in standard FORTRAN 77 and implemented on a
wide variety of platforms, the programs cover most aspects of Protein
Crystallography, including data reduction, structure determination and
refinement.
We have a vacancy for a person to maintain, develop and support the
software. Candidates should have an honours degree in computer science or a
scientific discipline and considerable experience in programming. The
succesfull applicant will also have good communication and organisational
skills as he/she will be expected to interact with other members of the CCP4
team and with collaborating university personnel.
The post is offered on a 2 year fixed-term basis and will be at Band 5
level. The salary will be in the range of 14,828 to 24,233 depending on the
amount of relevant experience. Further progression is dependent on
performance. A non-contributory pension scheme, flexible working hours and a
generous leave allowance are also offered.
