UK BIOINFORMATICS JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Cambridge Antibody Technology (CAT) is seeking to recruit
talented bioinformatics scientists to join a leading-edge
bioinformatics and computational functional genomics group.
CAT is a rapidly expanding biotech company that is developing
theraputic products both in-house and with major multinational
companies.

Senior Bioinformatics Research Scientist (Ref. SBRS)
CAT is exploiting its world-leading platform technology in a new,
multidisciplinary functional genomics program. A position exists
for a PhD level bioinformatics scientist to play a key role.
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about many
bioinformatics techniques (for example: large-scale DNA sequence
analysis; secondary and tertiary protein structure prediction; fold
recognition; and protein structure analysis, modelling and design).
They will have a proven track record in solving challenging
biological problems by using combinations of some or all of the
above methods in novel ways. Experience working in a UNIX
environment (SUN, Silicon GRAPHICS) is essential. Strong
programming skills in a scientific language would be an
advantage.
For a scientist of outstanding calibre, this position offers the
chance to use genuinely diverse, state-of-the-art computational
techniques to attack some of the most demanding problems facing
modern biology.

Bioinformatics Research Scientist (Ref. BRS)
A position exists for a research scientist with a flair for
programming and algorithm design to play an important role in
the development of state-of-the-art bespoke research tools.
The successful candidate will have experience both in working
with biological databases, and also in the development of
bioinformatics software tools. Essential skills include C or
C++ programming in a UNIX environment; PERL programming;
UNIX shell-scripting; and dynamic Internet/Intranet content
creation. Experience with system administration of SUN Solaris
and SGI Irix server and desktop systems, and of developing
automated processing systems would be an advantage.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a bioinformatics scientist
interested in using and extending his or her portfolio of skills
to include the emerging technologies being used at CAT. These
include a sophisticated Enterprise Intranet; Java-based network
computing applications; and Livewire ORACLE database integration.
