		ETHICS IN A BOX
As a person in the medical field, but not a direct health
care provider, I have often wonder what motivates health
care providers to make ethical decisions in regards
to patient care. Obviously decisions are made from
past experiences. And what if a situation arises
you have not come across before? Now there is a CD-ROM
available that can assist in bring to light various
ethical aspect of patient care. And of course the more
experience an individual has the better they are able
to make a decision that will impact the patient in a
positive way.

THE DOCTORS DILEMMA, ESSENTIALS OF MEDICAL ETHICS
	by Gold Standard Multimedia

The Doctor's Dilemma is an interactive role-playing program
developed by Gold Standard Multimedia and the Medical College
of Georgia.

The player takes the role of family physician during a "typical"
week of interacting with patients, staff and colleagues as well
as the patients' family and friends. He or she is called upon to make
decisions in ten cases that raise ethical issues similar to those
faced by many physicians in their practices. The cases deal with
issues surrounding termination of life support, abortion,
malpractice, AIDS, confidentiality, cancer, informed consent,
research protocols, contraception, artificial insemination, and
request for physician assisted suicide.

Join our discussion board and post your views of the example
AIDS case from The Doctor's Dilemma CD. Thanks for your time and
consideration.
