readseq in C++/Java - comments?

To the group,

Consider these comments as those of an educated user, not
manager or programmer. Of all the hundreds of C programs I've compiled
on our Sun, large and small, only _one_ has been written in C++.
This turned out not to be difficult, as I simply installed the g++
library to accompany our gcc. What this means, though, is that
C++ is a "non-standard" language in molecular biology. I say this
because I've compiled all sorts of different programs at various
times, and consider this collection to be a reasonable sample of
Unix molecular biology software.

Perhaps any program written in C++ should also be offered as an
executable? I'd hate to have to try and 'debug' some C++ code
that wasn't compiling on this Sun, as I've found debugging some C
source code painful enough!
