We would like to announce the availability of the new versions 2.0
of the programs MatInd and MatInspector, tools for the definition and
detection of consensus matches in DNA sequences.
MatInspector is a program that uses a large library of predefined
matrix descriptions of transcription factor binding sites
to locate matches in nucleotide sequences of unlimited length.
This library is now based on the latest version 3.0 of the
TRANSFAC database (http://transfac.gbf-braunschweig.de/TRANSFAC).
Now there is also access to the matrix profiles and references
in the UNIX and DOS versions.
MatInd, MatInspector together with the library are available for UNIX and
DOS at
ftp://ariane.gsf.de/pub/
(Windows95/WindowsNT and Mac versions will follow).
You can also use MatInspector 2.0 interactively on the WWW at
http://www.gsf.de./biodv/matinspector.html
or soon at
http://transfac.gbf-braunschweig.de/TRANSFAC/
Here the sequences to be analyzed can directly be submitted (copy and
paste),
individual or groups of matrices from the library can be selected
and the resulting output can be saved for further processing.
