To continue on the same ideas, at the following URL you will find a
Java applet which draws an helical wheel, i.e. an axial projection of
a regular alpha-helix, for a given sequence, starting number and
selected coloring scheme (see hydrophobic scale):

I wrote it as a step program to Java and it took about a day of work.

simulation and I think it shows the potential of Java, the program is
