It never ends...
The primary UH Gene-Server machine has developed CPU errors and is
dead.
This means ftp.bchs.uh.edu and
gopher.bchs.uh.edu and
gene-server at bchs.uh.edu
are all dead.
The FTP server accessed by "ftp.bchs.uh.edu" should be back by Monday,
January 23, about 5 P.M. For access now, use the IP address
129.7.2.24.
The Gopher server for PIR entry search and retrieval will be dead a
while longer.
The email access will be gone longer than that, unless a miracle
occurs on the hardware.
The body count so far on the Gene-Server is:
two dead disks
one dead CPU
one *really* spooked manager
Services Unaffected:
service at bchs.uh.edu - GeneFinder
dan davison
manager of what's left of the UH Gene-Server
