LINUX port of blast client software?

i attempted, not too hard, to compile the ncbi BLAST client on my
linux box.   it failed for some reasons that i'm not sure about and
i'm not going to list them here since this isn't the blast code
newsfroup.  i just want to know if anyone has this client running on a
linux machine.
