Gopher servers at many (most?) academic institutions have local phone
books, though they're quite often incomplete (e.g. you can't get my email
address from the Harvard gopher server!), and this doesn't cover the
non-academic world. For example, I couldn't find anything for "City of
Hope" or for Duarte, CA among the California gopher servers yesterday.
