BLAST 1.4 under OSF1 ?

Has anybody managed to compile and run the new version of BLAST (1.4)
on AXP computers running OSF1?

First I had to struggle with the compilation and now that I seem to
have gotten things right, all BLAST programs crash.
The error messages are not very helpful, after the program promises to
be 'Searching' there is only the statement 'Segmentation fault (core dumped)'

Any success stories?
