BAMBCT VMS BLAST Client November 18, 1994
An updated version of the VMS BLAST client is now available. VMS BLAST
is a client to the NCBI Network BLAST service and replaces the
previous version from December 1993.
The changes to the BLAST client include an updated list of databases
now available from the NCBI server, plus the ability to request a
TBLASTX search.
As with previous versions all BLAST parameters can be set from the
command line. See the BLAST manual for a list of the currently
available parameters.
To use VMS BLAST your VAX must be on the Internet, have TCP/IP
installed (the client has previously been tested with TGV Multinet,
Wollongong and DEC UCX) and be registered with the NCBI Network BLAST
server. For more information or to obtain VMS BLAST use Anonymous FTP
to ncbi.nlm.nih.gov in the directory:
blast/network/experimental/vms
For information on the Network BLAST service see:
ftp://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/blast/network/experimental/README
To obtain a copy of the current BLAST manual send an e-mail message to
blast at ncbi.nlm.nih.gov and include only the word "help" as the body of
the message, the subject line is ignored. The Network BLAST server and
its options are identical to the e-mail server.
VMS BLAST is the result of a community effort among the Boston group
BAMBCT with additions from others around the US.
