Hello netters,

Please forgive me if this is not the right place, but it is a problem I
encounter when getting bio-software.

A lot of packages which are available (and which we find very helpful) are
stored with assorted binaries and the source code. The problem I have is that
the sorce code is usually a single Unix compressed tar file of the source code
files.

Does anyone out there have uncompress and tar utilities which will run under
OpenVMS v6.1 on an AXP 2100/A500MP?

I realise there's this nice package called OSF/1 which comes with uncompress
and tar, but OpenVMS is our preferred OS and will stay with us for quite some
time to come.

VMS files have their problems, so I guess there is no 'always works' version,
but if you know of or use something which may help, please let me know.

Best wishes,
Simon.
