FREE EDUCATIONAL SOFTWARE PACKAGE
P. C. CONVOLUTION
P.C. convolution is a educational software package that graphically
demonstrates the convolution and correlation operations. It runs on
IBM PC computers that have EGA monitors and DOS 4.0 or later.
The program displays the images that an experienced analyst views
in their minds-eye when performing these operations. The current
version of the software will perform convolution and correlation.
It will work with both continuous and discrete time functions.
In discrete time mode the user can also perform circular convolution.
The software allows the user to easily enter a variety of
functions and even supports the use of Dirac delta functions.
This is a "new and improved" version of the software that
was advertised approximately one year ago.
Anyone may download a demonstration version of this software using
anonymous ftp from lamarr.ee.umr.edu (188.8.131.52) file name: /pub/pcc5.zip.
University, college, military academe, and other instructors may
obtain a free and fully operational version of the software after they answer
a few simple questions concerning their affiliation and how they
plan to use the program. Contact Dr. Kurt Kosbar, 117 EE Building,
University of Missouri at Rolla, Rolla, MO, USA, 65401, e-mail
kk at ee.umr.edu. This is not a sales promotion. The software is
copyrighted, but distributed for free to qualified instructors. These
instructors will be allowed to pass out private copies to their
students. The only reason that distribution is limited to instructors
is to control the number of requests. Interested students should
search for a cooperative instructor to request a copy for them.
This will give me a stable contact point and will also (hopefully)
expose even more students to this software.
The program is in fairly wide-spread use. There are currently over 600
registered instructors using the software in over 50 countries. The
software was written by, and for, Electrical Engineers. However it
has been used in many areas outside of Electrical Engineering, including:
Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering
Phonetics & Linguistics
