Our lab is considering using NIH Image as part of a gel documentation
package. By this I mean capturing a picture of a gel using a CCD video
camera, annotating it in NIH Image, and printing on a video processor
thermal printer. Several companies such as Stratagene and Photodyne cell
systems like this, but we thought we would save money by putting it
together ourselves. Has anyone done this before and, if so, what
software/hardware did you use?
Specifically, has anyone used NIH Image for this application and do they
have macros written to integrate the image? Also, does anyone know of a
newsgroup specifically for NIH Image? (I heard there might be one.)
Please respond to sulman at pobox.upenn.edu
Thanks for the information.
