We're not having any problem accessing the service coverpage directly,
from Massachusetts. However, it doesn't have ALT's in its IMG tags, making it
of limited utility to the now hundreds of thousands of Lynx users. The only
item in the pages underlying the cover page which require a GUI client such
as Mosaic is the clickable image of database installation sites, and that's
not anything one needs to know in order to do the form-based searches with a
TUI client.
Appended is a ALTernate cover page I've installed here for the
benefit of Lynx users (it would be better, of course, if the ALT's were
included in the cover page at EMBL-Heidelberg).
We can discuss these matters at greater length, or post links to
explanations of why WWW providers ALWAYS should include ALT's in their
IMG tags, when the recently passed bionet.software.www is set up.
In the meantime, Lynx users can access the SRS-WWW service with the
appended HTML as a local file, or via one's local httpd.
