Dear Netters,
I tried to download GIF and JPEG files from Gopher. I have a Mac
Quadra 800 and use the recent Kermit 0.99(190) to communicate
with our Computer Center. All what I could get were invalid files
or files with corrupted data, when I tried to view them with
GIF-converter or JPEG view. Also Adobe Photoshop did not
work. I have also experimented with a number of different
file settings such as Binary, MacBinary and Data Fork or
Resource Fork - without any success. I specified KERMIT as
mode of transfer.
What is the correct procedure?

PS: There were no problems with HQX files encoded with BinHex4,
since these can be treated as TEXT files.
