Point your WWW (Web) client at the
<A HREF=" http://www.gdb.org/hopkins.html"> Hopkins Bioinformatics Web
server </A> and select:
<A HREF="http://www.gdb.org/Dan/softsearch/softsearch.html">
Search for and retrieve software from sites around the world </A>
Now choose one of the ways to find software -
Search the descriptions of Mac programs archived at the EMBL
will do jsut fine for this example. Search for
restriction
and you'll get entries telling you about the software. Some have
hypertext links to literature citations and all have a link right to
the program - just click on the programs name and the file is automagically
put on your hard disk. In this case the program you're looking for is called
Double digester.
You can also jump into the Native home for Double digester from the
Softsearch page by browsing through the list of software and data archives
for biology.
If you've never heard of the Web or don't have a Web client yet
(Mosaic, lynx ...) write me a note and I'll send you some information to
get started.
Best of luck,
