We use LabView for Sun and we like it a lot. At the moment it does not control any instrument but we have combined all the programs for analysis into one package under LabView - and it makes our life a lot easier. LabView is easy to use (once you learn it) and it is pretty flexible. You can link your own programs (and use them in window environment instead of line commands etc.) as well.
