Many experiments consist of gridding clones in rectangular arrays
and hybridizing probes against the array. This results in digital
images consisting of arrays of dots.
I am looking for dot readers, i.e., software that reads a digital
image of a dot blot and reads the positive dots. I am aware of
two packages, DOTS 8.0 from Argonne National Labs and a dot
reader from HELIX. I also know about NIH Image.
I am interested in both automatic and interactive programs.
I really want to try all the packages I can, free and commercial,
since the software may be used by several research groups in my
company. Since we will be using a pooling scheme on our grids,
it would be nice if the package were extensible or programable to
decipher the pooling.
Anyone have any suggestions or leads ?
