Plotting program for mac

Just my recent observations: we bought deltagraph just this month
for department here, based on its good recent reviews. It stinks,
in my not-quite-humble opinion. Many outright bugs, it crashed
at least a few times doing simple things, and it had a very lousy
user interface -- took me many minutes wrestling w/ it to move
a legend box where I want, and often it won rather than me.

I don't think anyone here uses Kaliedagraph though we've had it
for a few years. Cricket Graph is by far the most popular. We
even have other departments and undergrad courses using our file
server to get to Cricket graph (they shouldn't be). It doesn't do
everything, but what it does, it does pretty simply and nicely.

On a not too related topic, we have found the recent Canvas 3.5 (Mac)
drawing program to be a real bust also -- it crashes randomly, and
has been mangling people's files. Does anyone have a good suggestion
for a replacement? MacDraw(Pro), Adobe Illustrator are good, but vector
drawing only (no bitmap editting). Apple's new Claris Draw is
supposed to include bitmap editting -- I'm hoping that will be a viable
Canvas replacement.
