Blast and fasta, what's the difference?

I'll let others explain the intended difference between BLAST and FASTA, but
since you have internet access you will want to know about the GENQUEST
recource at Oak Ridge National Lab. You can send a sequence to the server
and do a Smith-Watterman search, FASTA, BLAST and even search against several
databases at once (including J. Jurka's Human Repeat database and Amos Bairoch's
motif db).

For an introduction, send mail to Q at ornl.gov. The subject line in your mail
does not matter, but just put "help" (without the quotes) in the message
field and the system will automatically mail you back some introductory
instructions.
