I once wrote a plasmid drawing program for the PC (Plasmid Paint),
but we have long since switched over to the Clone program which is
now in version 4.0 and works quite well. It's available from a
company in Stateline, PA called Scientific and Educational Software
(I think.. if that's wrong I'll post the right address). It does
"mock up" cloning, maps, and manipulates sequences including
unsequenced fragments. It has therefore also replaced an old friend
called "Matilda" (still worth it for the waltz, though) written some
years ago by David Shalloway and colleagues. The new version of
Clone also directly imports Genbank sequences and incorporates the
comments. Therefore, using the BLAST server from NCBI you too can
get anything you want at the ACGT restaurant...
