Gopher over to gopher.ora.com and read about O'Reilly & Associates
publishers collection of computer books -- or you might find them
at a local bookstore.
Two of interest to Unix beginners/users:
Learning the Unix operating system, Todino et al., 1993, O'Reilly...
ISBN 1-56592-060-0, cost around $9 (a short sweet 92 pages)
UNIX in a Nutshell: System V edition (maybe they also have a BSD edn)
by D. Gilly & the staff of O'Reilly & Associates
444 pages, ISBN 1-56592-001-5, $9.95
-- this one is organized as description of each common command.
I'd recommend both of these as a reference text for beginners.
See also O'Reilly's The Whole Internet and other useful computer books
at their gopher server.
