| SKIS v 5.2 | the Six Kingdom Inventory System | November 1993 |
*--------------*-------------------------------------*----------------*

The SKI-System is now available via anonymous FTP from the
following sites:-

Asian users, NCTUCCCA.edu.tw:/garbo/pc/science
American users, wuarchive.wustl.edu:/systems/ibmpc/garbo/science
European users, garbo.uwasa.fi:/pc/science
Oceanian users, archie.au:/micros/pc/garbo/pc/science

SKIS is a totally new biodiversity information management system
allowing basic data capture with user control over Taxonomic
Standards. SKIS_52.ZIP contains the fully functional program
- SKI_IN.EXE, data files (NAMs - for Birds, Mammals, Plants),
documentation and examples. SKIS is MSDOS-based.

SKI_IN builds and organizes annotated taxonomic checklists
(SKI-files). The Biological Classification is used as an
hierarchical Index; this is represented by a short and
meaningful code. SKI_INput has many data management facilities,
allowing SKI-files to be passed to spreadsheets or database
programs for other use.

The file: SKIS_52.ZIP, requires PKZIP v2.04G to decompress the
files it contains. (via garbo.uwasa.fi:/pc/arcers pkz204g.exe)

Free to private individuals.
Businesses will require a negotiated licence.
Concession rates for Conservation and Education projects.

anonymous #Use this name to get temporary privileges
Type (at least) the first part of your email address as your password
cd /pc/science #Go to the relevant directory
bin #Use the binary mode in program transfers
dir #Get a look at the directory's contents
