Genetics software for teaching

We are looking into setting up a 30 to 60 terminal teaching lab for
a genetics course. Does anyone have suggestions experience for
software (public domain or commercial) that is exciting for students
learning Mendelian, evolutionary/population and molecular genetics?
Specific sources would be much appreciated. We prefer a Macintosh
platform, but that could be flexible. I have seen a Hypercard stack
on Mendelian genetics, but it seems a bit dated, not running
properly under Sytem 7. Thanks.
