PIR Release 34 is available in both the ascii and vms versions on
ftp.bchs.uh.edu (129.7.2.43) in pub/gene-server/pir/pir_rel34/{ascii,
vms}. The latest NRL_3D release is also included in those directories.
The files are stored in Unix compress(1) format, and there is a VMS
decompress utility in pub/gene-server/pir/decompress.exe, together with
a sample (i.e. non-working) .CLD file.
Be sure to transfer all files in binary mode.
If you use the PIR files with GCG 7.X, be sure to use PIR2GCG to
produce the index files needed for GCG7.X: GCG 6.X can use the files
as-is.
The UH Gopher is back up and running with a complete set of biology
gopher links and with PIR 34.
E-mail retrieval of PIR 34 will be restored by Thursday afternoon.
