A colleague is interested is scanning a genomic library for restriction
fragments, and has inquired about the availability of hardware and software
for automated (or semi-automated) gel scanning and fragment bookeeping.
His protocol will be to end label each clone, so rather than complete
restriction mapping, he will only tabulate distance from the end for
each enzyme, and total size. Has anyone had experience with this
type of screening, and can anyone supply info on software and
scanners to do it.
