(sorry if I missed that) but who is the owner of PIR ? I am not aware
of the fact that Dr. Pearson was involved, and if so, I would need to
know because on bioftp.unibas.ch (131.152.8.1) the data of PIR are
available as well, and there I reference only PIR as the producer.
Those of you who worry about the data on a european source, they're
provided as '.ref', '.seq', '.nam' and '.header' files which makes it
possible to use them in various packages. Look in ~archive_data/seq_data/pir
if you need to. Though it is possible to download the files if would
be a matter of honesty to tell the original providers where you took it
from so that they have evidence to guess the ammount of 'customers' in the
field. Same applies for me, as funding is hard to get, I'd certainly
appreciate a note if you took it...
