True. There's an implicit "within reason" there. FTP is Don's area. In
the past I didn't have a lot of disk space to work with so only recent
additions were placed in the FTP area. Then people started expecting
to pick Gene-Server files up via FTP too and I put as much out as I
could. Now that there's disk space to burn (at least this week :-) I
can put everything out again. But I won't.
What *will* be put out for FTP on ftp.bchs.uh.edu is:
latest anti-viral software
archiving/dearchiving/archive handling software
general utilities
latest additions to the gene-server that haven't made it to
the FTP sites.
files that faculty and students here use a lot
When I notice something living at an FTP site I will remove it from
ftp.bchs.uh.edu's anonymous FTP area.
I *really* do want to encourage people to use IUBIO and FUNET for
anonymous FTP of biological software.
