The best general-purpose DNA/protein manipulation/analysis package for the
PC is SeqAidII. If you don't mind paying $$, the programs from Scientific
& Educational Software (PO Box 440, State Line PA 17263, USA) (phone 717/
597-5307) are tremendous. The CLONER program is a graphics-oriented clone
construction and analysis program. They also have an auxillary program for
publication-quality maps, etc., and the best oligonucleotide primer designer
program available. The software DESIGN is really smooth & easy-to-use; worth
the money.
