Most likely the plotter file is in HP-GL format (or possibly RD-GL) in which
case you can convert it to Postscript with the hpgl2ps program. In the
unlikely event that the plotter file is in DXY format the hpgl2ps package
can handle that too.
You can obtain hpgl2ps by anonymous ftp from many sites around the
