You can access WAIS from JANET using the new telnet service at
uk.ac.nsf.tn. I tried it briefly a couple of weeks ago and it worked
fine.
Just call uk.ac.nsf.tn, then when it asks for guest telnet destination,
just reply "hub.nnsc.nsf.net", and then login with "wais". It will even
allow you to use VT100 emulation, although it can be a bit slow.
