There is a new updated version of BOXSHADE available via ftp now.
BOXSHADE is used for converting multiple aligned sequences files into
nice looking documents for printer output or inclusion into word processing
or drawing programs.
It takes input from multiple alignment programs as PILEUP, CLUSTAL, LINEUP or
MALIGNED, labels identical/similar residues according to the users preferences
and creates output for either terminal previewing (VT-series, ReGIS, UIS),
for printer output (POSTSCRIPT, DEC-LJ250 color printer) or for further
conversion with other programs (EPS, ReGIS/ReToS, Render).

-modified POSTSCRIPT/EPS output, allows scaling of fonts.
(.PAR file structure modified, BOX.PSP now obsolete)
-support of vertical POSTSCRIPT output

-slight reordering of interactive input
-minor bug in command line handling fixed
-minor bug in EPS-bounding box fixed

A recommendation:
Users of the program might want to have a look on a similar program,
PRETTYBOX, written by Rick Westerman at Purdue University. This very nice
program does a similar task but has other strengths than BOXSHADE, e.g. it
includes a full-featured GCG-style user interface. It also has a method of
shading that differs from the one applied in BOXSHADE, using the Dayhoff-
matrices supplied with GCG.
