The author search function on the UH Gene-Server was not working due
to a misnamed file. It is now working again: to use this service send
the Subject:
        send author some-author-you-are-interested-in
        gene-server at bchs.uh.edu
from the Internet or
        gene-server%bchs.uh.edu at CUNYVM
from BITNET. You can only put one author name on the line, all others
will be ignored.

PIR Release 30 updates:

PIR Release 30 is available for anonymous FTP on
The "unix" directory has the ascii files; the "vms" directory the
individual VMS-formatted files. See the instructions in each directory
for file transfer information. There was a problem with pir2.dat.Z
and it has been corrected. The directory vms_bck had a VMS saveset;
there was a problem with that file also and it has been removed. When
an update is available I will post a notice to the usual locations.

The Gene-Server will be moving to another machines some time in the
next week. This change should be completely transparent to the mail
server users. (The FTP location remains unchanged...for now). If you
have a problem contacting the Gene-Server by e-mail, please let me
(davison at uh.edu) know!

The UH Gene-Server is funded by the National Science Foundation grant
