3700: azServer--Data Extractor communication

My Data Extractor failed, in the middle of processing a run
a few days ago, to invoke the auto analyzer. The result was
that the data was converted into ABI format but the trace
data was not included. Subsequent runs have all failed to
invoke the auto analyzer. (This was the first run after I
had done a database purge. Over half the reads had been
fully processed.)

Adding the trace data to an ab1 file is done by the auto
analyzer, or alternatively, this can be done using Sequence
Analysis. But the latter must be done manually.

Examination of the Data Extractor logs revealed an error
mesage for each read that did not fully process.

Reps at Applied Biosystems have advised me to 1) defragment
drives c: and d:. This accomplished nothing I can detect.
Then 2) re-initialize the database. I haven't done this yet,
and am loath to do so unless absolutely necessary.

My question is: does anyone have a method that would restore
contact between the Data Extractor and the azServer?
