ABI 377 problem

I am have a sequence that should only contain A,T,C bases and no Gs,
but the sequence that I get back contains alot of G peaks, these are
out of sinc with the rest of the sequence, after removing the G trace
in sequencher I find that the sequence is perfect. Further
investigation shows that the G trace is very low in relationship with
the A,C,T's I think that the ABI software is 'Bringing Up' the G
backgroud as it expects there to be a G trace.

Is this the case?
If so can I avoid this background being Overemphasized in the 377
settings somewhere?
