RESEARCH TECHNICIAN
A laboratory research technician position is available in molecular
genetics and evolution. The position involves general laboratory tasks,
preparation of clones and libraries, PCR, performing sequencing reactions,
running a Beckman CEQ2000 sequencer, and performing data analysis and
sequence assembly.
At least a Bachelor's degree in biology is required, as well as some
laboratory experience in molecular biology from courses or from a prior
molecular laboratory position. Applicants should have a sincere interest
in molecular biology and evolution. The position requires attention to
detail, good organizational and communication skills, the ability to work
both independently and as part of a team, and dedication to doing the best
job possible. Familiarity with computers, including experience with
DNA/protein sequence analysis, and genome database search and analysis
programs, is required.
