3700's extra 8 capillaries

The 3700 has 104 usable capallaries (it has 108,
actually, I think, but the outmost 2 on each side only do
sheath flow) but normally one only uses 96 of them. Some
might be blocked, etc. But all of mine (in this array) look
okay. Has anyone considered using the extra 8 caps? For my
purposes it would require runs that use samples from more
than one plate. I don't want to mess up my current
96-well-quadrant(of a 384-well plate) per set-up. I just
want to supplement it with additional samples from another
384-well plate.
I know I can set the machine to load 108 caps/run by
changing the preferences. Does anyone have experience with
this. I'm also pretty sure the 3700 would schedule runs that
took samples from more than one plate--but that is
speculation. Anybody have any experience with this. I'll
probably try this in the near future anyway--but wouldn't
mind getting advice.
