ABI 377 Sequencing Service
Institute of Cell, Animal and Population Biology, University of
Edinburgh

Technician post available
3 years

We are looking for a motivated and organised technician to run our
in-house ABI-377 sequencing service. The Institute houses research
groups who work in infectious diseases, genomics, population genetics
and evolution: all of these use DNA sequencing as a core tool. We have
had an ABI377 for three years, and would now like to upgrade our service
to better meet the expanding needs of our research.

The post involves running the 377 (pouring gels, loading samples,
checking tracking and analysis) and may also include performing service
reactions for users. The 377 has the 64-lane-upgrade, and thus keeping
track of users’ samples, and maintaining a clear charging record is
essential.

The post will suit a motivated and organised person who likes
interacting with researchers on a day to day basis, and who takes pride
in a service well run. The Institute has a lively social life, and
Edinburgh is renowned for its quality of life and the social/artistic
scene, as well as the excellence of its Universities.

POST PARTICULARS: Research Technician Post (Technician Grade D);
£12,867-15,361 pa; full time - 37 hrs per week; 36 months; MRC funded
research support post
