The Course
The main aim of this meeting is to introduce young researchers to the
field of Gene Therapy. The first part of the Course will cover the =
basic
aspects of gene transfer with retroviral and adenoviral vectors, as =
well
as with other less established procedures such as plasmid injection. =
The
second part of the Course will deal with human studies, with special
emphasis on the neurological field. A final discussion of the ethical
and social aspects of gene therapy will conclude the Course. At the =
end
of every session there will be a general discussion on the topics. In
addition, the Course is organised in such a way that participants will
be in close contact with the lecturers, who will rotate among the
participants during meals. The Course is devoted to young researchers
involved in basic research on gene transfer in vivo. In addition,
experienced clinician and human geneticists with an interest in gene
therapy trials are welcome.

Course Fees and Grants
=B7 The Course Fee is 800 DM, which covers all accomodation and =
meals. 
=B7 There are 20 Youth Travel Fund (YTF) Grants available from FEBS =
for

Application
70 participants will be permitted. The organisers will select the
participants on the basis of their application. The deadline for
applications is 30 June 1997. Successful applicants will be notified =
of
their admission to the Course by 15 July 1997.
