Sequence analysis software

Hi!

As we are using some outdated programs for sequence assembly in our lab
I am looking for a cheap alternative. Are there any shareware/freeware
programs for the Macintosh platform that are powerful (reliable and
fast) that are used by somebody here?
I tried the sequencher program demo by Gene Codes Corporation and found
it to be a great program. Are there any public available programs that
enclose similar features?
