The ancient strain of pine trees are not pine trees but are in another 
family of Gymnosperms called Araucaria. As for the Dawn Redwoods in P.A. 
, yes they are directly related to the grove of Dawn redwoods found in 
1944. As are all the Dawn redwoods found anywhere else in the western
