I understood from Jean that he had the socket server working on solaris, perhaps
he could reply here if he has.
We now have an up to date solaris system so sometime this week I will try to do
a trial on it.
If there is some problem on solaris and the server is not even getting started
as your below messages seem to imply then this needs looking into.
