Yes, resetting the background resets the border. However, under
OpenWindows, the entire ACeDB window was white, while under
CDE the non-text part of the window appears as a border whose
color is the same as the background color of the screen. This
implies that CDE does something different with colors than

CDE (Common Desktop Environment)
is a new industry standard desktop designed jointly by
members of the Open Software Foundation, X/Open and the 
X Consortium. It runs on essentially all Unix platforms,
and is bundled with the most recent Solaris releases.
Sun has stated that it will soon discontinue supporting
OpenWidows in favor of CDE. CDE is the default desktop
for Solaris 2.6. Information on CDE may
