Dear Colleague:
The recent expansion in our understanding of all aspects of cellular lipid
transport has been impressive, and the pace of elucidation of new genes and
insights into the mechanisms of action of gene products is rapidly
increasing. In addition, the number of genes in these families directly
related to human diseases is now being more fully appreciated. To improve
upon information exchange related to cellular lipid transport, I am now in
the process of organizing a new meeting, Cellular Lipid Transport-Connecting
Fundamental Membrane Assembly Processes to Human Disease. The co-organizers
of this meeting are Todd Graham (Vanderbilt) and Jean Vance (U. Alberta).
The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology has already
agreed to be a primary sponsor for the meeting and provided startup funding.
I am also in the process of soliciting additional funding from public and
private sources. The tentative plan is to convene the meeting in the fall
(late September or early October) of 2008 at either Lake Tahoe, Nevada; or
Banff, Alberta.
In order to facilitate planning for the meeting and grant applications,
please notify <giangt from njc.org>, by return email if you are interested in
attending this meeting, if students and fellows from your lab are likely to
attend, and if you would be available to participate as a speaker. The
final choice of speakers will be made at a later date by the organizers.
____ I am interested in attending the meeting.
____ # People from my laboratory that will likely attend.
____ My schedule would enable me to commit to the meeting as a speaker.
____ I will be unable to attend the meeting.
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
Sincerely,
Dennis R. Voelker, Ph.D.
