Postdoctoral Research
Biology of RNA Metabolism in Eukaryotes
National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, NIH
The successful candidate will investigate molecular mechanisms
involved in the metabolism of noncoding and coding RNAs. This
includes the link between transcription termination and RNA
processing as well as nuclear transport. A major focus is on the
conserved La antigen. A fission yeast system is a major workhorse
for the lab. We also use information gained from yeast, to advance
knowledge in mammalian cell culture and genetically altered mice.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and have less than 5 years postdoctoral
experience. Expertise in molecular biology, genetics and/or
biochemistry is preferred. Experience in RNA metabolism is
desirable. The successful candidate must incorporate self-directed
research, excellent technical, presentation, and communication skills
as essential parts of the job. Applicants should submit a cover
letter that details their interest in the research areas described
above and their specific interest in the Maraia lab
